Dr. Haben is a fellowship-trained laryngological laser surgeon specializing in voice, swallowing, breathing disorders and larynx cancer. His fellowship experience includes time spent with Dr. Robert Bastian, of the Bastian Voice Institute in Chicago, a nationally-recognized voice and singing expert, and Professor Wolfgang Steiner of Germany, who pioneered voicebox preserving laser surgery for cancer. His research, backed by a fellowship at the prestigious NIH, involves Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) and cancers of the larynx. Links to Dr. Haben's articles can be found below. Dr. Haben is also recognized by the National Spasmodic Dysphonia Association as a designated expert in BoTox therapy for voice disorders.

Dr. Haben is a former Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Rochester Medical Center, having served as the Director for the Center for the Care of the Professional Voice, and Medical Director in the Department of Speech Pathology.
Dr. Haben was also an ORISE Fellow at the National Institutes of Health and Food & Drug Administration in Bethesda, Maryland.
